we're so back ! ! ! !
podcasts
- The Severance Podcast with Ben Stiller and Adam Scott
Been listening to this along with watching the show and I love hearing all the behind the scenes information, as well as interviews with the cast and crew! This show is a masterpiece!!
- Origin Story with Phillip Russell and Ben Thorp
Listened to too many episodes to list them all but my highlight was the interview with author Allegra Hyde on writing a different kind of climate change novel and the power of utopian thinking.
Her idealistic approach to writing utopian climate fiction was something that hit really close to home for me. Our practice is really similar!
movies & tv
- Severance - season 2 (up until episode 7) AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA best tv show of all time ever what the fuck. Will write a whole blog on this maybe when the season finishes ???
- Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man - season 1
I haven't kept up with anything MCU related since Endgame but Spider-Man is always my exception. This show is really fun and they've planted a lot of interesting narrative seeds for the future!
games
- UNDER A STAR CALLED SUN - cecile richard
I wanted to play a Bitsy game because I've been curious about the game engine. Didn't expect to get punched in the gut by the first game I'd check out :').
- Lost Records Tape 1 - DONTNOD
Life is Strange 1 & 2 are both part of my favorite games of all time, so I picked this game up on launch day and spent the next few evenings playing through the first part.
I'm a HUUUGE fan of being able to film everything with my retro camcorder!! The graphics are so beautiful I feel completely immersed in wanting to capture footage of it all.
DONTNOD has great taste in music and I especially love all the references to the Riot Grrrl scene, including Bikini Kill's zines!
And all four of the main characters are so well written and fun.
The only thing I hope the second part will improve on is the ability to explore Velvet Cove more.. Most of part 1 takes place in a forest and while I love filming all the little critters,
I miss how much I learned about Arcadia Bay and it's residents while snooping around all of LIS1's locations as Max.
I feel like Lost Records misses out on that environmental storytelling a little by limiting the variety in environments. I also sometimes felt a bit rushed to keep moving as a lot of the scenes in the forest take place walking somewhere else.
Hmmm I don't want this to sound too critical though it's still a really beautiful and interesting game regardless and I can't wait to play part 2!
