books & articles
- Staying with the Trouble - Donna Haraway
Only like 30 pages in so don't have much to say yet except for YESSSS this is such useful inspiration for my current project!
- The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction - Ursula K. Le Guin (links directly to file download!)
ohhhhhh ursula I love you so much.. this essay felt like it plucked a lot of floating thoughts out of my brain and solidified them in front of me.
podcasts
- Modern Love - Andrew Garfield wants to crack open your heart
Andrew has been one of my favorite actors for years,
his vulnerability both in his work and outside of it really speaks to me.
This episode was no different. His musings on the constants of love and loss in every person's life were very special to listen to.
- For The Wild - TRICIA HERSEY on Deprogramming from Grind Culture
Motivated me to block social media sites that only suck up my energy and don't give anything in return.
I want to figure out what true rest looks like for me. I've been so tired despite not having many obligations at all, and want to find a way out of that.
A gap year leaves so much open space that I feel pressured to fill with career-advancing activities, but deep inside I feel my body wanting to linger and loiter and gather and be present. Why should I repress that urge just to serve a capitalist system?
Hersey says that real rest is one of the many tools we have to survive and resist it.
movies & tv
- Heartstopper - season 3 Was it incredibly cheesy? Yes. But seeing queer teens be happy and loved besides the hardships they face feels healing. Wish this show existed when I was a teen, but I'm very happy that it exists for the queer and especially trans teens growing up in the current political climate.
